And conceptual metaphor became more and more popular. The key figure is George Lakoff. According to Lakoff’s [i]Metaphors we live by[/i], conceptual metaphor is a ground of human experience. It also has a great revelatory sense, especially for vocabulary study. Conceptual metaphor is powerful cognitive tool for our conceptualization of abstract categories. Metaphor is expressed by vocabulary, and spreads all over the linguistic aspects. So, the research of conceptual metaphor is helpful for us to study linguistic.[/color][/font][/b][/size] 2. Compares with the tritional metaphor theory, the conceptual theory of metaphor is based on the combination of objective and subjective experience of the view of language. The former is based on objective concept of the language. In terms of method, the former uses piecemeal analysis, which means a rhetorical device, is hidden,and totally different from daily language, while the latter is systematic research,which is a cognitive way, is a cross domain mapping, widely exists in the daily language.
