From the makers behind the viral iPhone 5 concept that envisioned the device with a stunning laser keyboard comes a breathtaking new vision for the iPad 3, with an edge-to-edge retina display and 3D multiplayer hologram for gaming.

Now, this is exactly what not to expect to be unveiled at Apple's iPad press event next week. A flurry of feature speculations have taken the web by storm following the news that the company will launch a product on March 7 in San Francisco, but this clever video from Aatma Studio — whose iPhone 5 Concept Features video raked in nearly 50 million views on YouTube — takes it a step further and opens up a world of possibilities for the future of tablets.

For example, it toys with the option of a 2560 x 1140 resolution edge-to-edge retina display, which gives the allusion of a larger visual screen area. In the video, the entire screen serves as the home button.

Although this notion is already possible with today's tech advancements, it doesn't seem likely for the next-generation iPad, especially since the event invitation features an image of a touchscreen device with a frame.

However, Aatma plays up the possibility in the video. It takes one iPad and places it next to another and the first takes over the screen of the second — similar to having two screens for a desktop computer.

"Although the tablet form factor is great, we felt the need for a larger visual real estate," Pramod Modi Shantharam, the CEO and animation director at Aatma, told Mashable. "We eliminated the black border of current iPad and thought it would be a great visual experience for users who bring their iPads together utilizing their internal magnets."

This would allow users to stream videos or watch a movie on two iPad screens at once. The studio used internal magnets with near field communications (NFC) technology to make it happen.

"Consider a scenario where a family of four brings their individual iPads together at an airport while waiting for their flight with a master iPad controlling all screens," Shantharam added. "This could facilitate new original forms of media content in the future."

But perhaps the most innovative feature in the video is a 3D multiplayer hologram for gaming. Game controllers project out onto the surface of the table, while two players play a football game with the help of the two combined iPads.

"The 3D holographic display was a popular feature in our iPhone 5 concept video and we wanted to extend that to the iPad," Shantharam said. "Users could experience a three-dimensional floating holographic screen with combined iPads, making it an exciting use case for multiplayer games."

Do you think future iPads will embrace this technology? Which feature of the concept was most fascinating to you? Let us know in the comments.

A Chinese court Wednesday heard arguments in Apple's appeal in the high profile "iPad" trademark lawsuit over its blockbuster tablet computer.

Judges with the Guangdong high court are expected to announce the date for their decision whether Apple or the Taiwan-based IT company Proview has the rights to use the iPad name on devices sold in China. The case has high stakes for both Apple — one of the world's most profitable companies — and Proview Electronics, a once-strong computer display manufacturer that now is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Stan Abrams, a Beijing based lawyer and professor of foreign investment and intellectual property law at the Central University of Finance and Economics, said that while Apple could have avoided the suit by being more careful, Proview has also made mistakes.
Between 2001 and 2004 Proview registered an iPad trademark in Europe and six other markets through its flagship company, Proview Taiwan. The group's largest operation, Proview Shenzhen, registered the trademark for the name within China. In preparing for the launch of the iPad, Apple bought the "global" iPad trademark from Proview, a portfolio that the U.S. company believed included the Chinese trademarks.
Proview has since claimed to the contrary, and a Shenzhen court recently agreed that Apple does not own the rights to the name within China. Apple is now appealing that decision.

People in China are among the most fearful of getting old, a new global survey suggests.

According to Bupa, a British healthcare organization, which asked 12,262 people in 12 countries about their attitudes toward aging, 28 percent of the Chinese polled said they feel depressed when they think about getting old.

And although 72 percent of all respondents aged 65 and over said they do not feel old, the survey conducted in June and July this year found more than half of those aged 45 to 54 in China already consider themselves to be elderly. About 30 percent of Chinese respondents said they worry about who will look after them in later years, while 91 percent agreed the government of the world's most populous nation should improve care for the elderly.

However, because people in China think about their future earlier, research suggests the country could be one of the best prepared for addressing the aging problem. About one third of Chinese respondents - more than double the global average - said they have put money aside for retirement, while 46 percent have taken out insurance, the poll showed.

Meanwhile, the Bupa survey revealed France is the most "young-at-heart" nation, with almost one third of French respondents believing people are only old when they pass 80. Indians appeared to be the least bothered of all countries surveyed about getting older (70 percent) and the best prepared with 71 percent of Indians stating that they have already made some kind of preparation for their later years.

Many people try to lose weight and never manage to, and this is why you need to make the most of the best exercise that it around. Walking.

If you think about the things that you do in your life, you probably find that you get out of walking whenever you can. Whether that's taking the car to the shops that are just around the corner, or taking a lift when you're only going up one floor of the building.

If you try to change your life so that you are walking more, you will find that you're able to burn more calories and therefore lose more weight. You should try to take the stairs rather than the lift wherever you can, as this means that you will raise your heart beat higher.

In addition to this, if you take the bus a lot, then you should try getting off a couple of stops earlier than you might have done in the past. Not only will this help for you to get more exercise, but it will also help you to save a little bit of money at the same time because you won’t have to pay for as much time on the bus as you would have done in the past.

If you get a newspaper delivered to your door, think about whether you could walk to the shops in the morning and pick it up instead. This would raise your metabolism at the most important time in the day.

If you choose to take these tips, then you should find that you are able to lose a little more weight than you are at this moment in time. Every little helps, no matter how small, so even getting out of the house and walking around the block is better than simply sitting at home and not doing anything at all.

China sets its GDP growth target at 7.5 percent this year, down from 8 percent in 2011, according to a government work report to be delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao at the 11th National People's Congress annual session Monday.

This is the first time for the Chinese government to lower its economic growth target after keeping it around 8 percent for seven consecutive years.

Previously, China had announced it would target GDP growth of 7 percent from 2011 to 2015, the country's 12th Five-Year Plan period.

Fiscal policy

China says it supports resolving the issue of Iran's nuclear program through dialogue, echoing comments made this week by U.S. President Barack Obama. But Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told reporters in Beijing Tuesday that countries should be able to have and use nuclear technology for non-weapons purposes. He said China is opposed to anyone in the Middle East developing nuclear weapons.

The comments come a day after the U.N.'s nuclear agency chief said there are "serious concerns" about a possible military element to Iran's nuclear program. A team of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency visited Iran last month, but was denied access to the Parchin military complex near Tehran. Iran's ISNA news agency said Tuesday that Tehran will allow inspectors to visit the site. The IAEA chief, Yukiya Amano, said Monday the agency is aware of "some activities" at the site, and that they believe "going there sooner is better than later." Israel and Western powers accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian energy program, a charge Tehran denies.

Women in China have been enjoying increasing independence and respect in the economic and political arenas as well as their family households, Xinhua reported.

China had about 137 million female workers by October 2010, accounting for 42.6 percent of the country's workforce. This compared to just 610,000 female workers, or 7.5 percent, in 1949 when the People's Republic of China was founded.

Meanwhile, women have started to outshine their male counterparts in journalism, teaching, healthcare and the police force.

Furthermore, in a move to encourage women in rural regions to participate in politics, female officials were elected into all village committees in Shandong, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hunan and Guangdong provinces, all of which completed leadership reshufflings in 2011.

The relatively small number of female politicians in China is a topic of criticism by Western media. However, the ratio of female lawmakers on the national stage stands at 22 percent, compared with only 17 percent in the U.S.

In addition to entering the political arena, Chinese women are also amassing personal fortunes.

China now has more self-made female billionaires than any other country in the world, and many of these women entrepreneurs have rags-to-riches stories that have inspired others to follow suit.

June 7, 1958

"If you were one drop of water, do you moisten the field? If you were a ray of sunshine, do you brighten the darkness? If you were a morsel of food, do you provide others with nutrition? If you were the tiniest bolt, do you stay in place and fulfill your duty? If you want to tell others your ideals, do you preach them day and night? When you are alive do you always remember to work hard and realize your efforts will affect future lives and let the world become more beautiful day by day? I want to ask you: What do you contribute to the future? In life you must be a giver and not just a taker."
